SEAT AT THIS TABLE

life after graduation
Words that I wrote, that I plan to read to my future husband one day. Enjoy.

A seat at this table was meant for two,

it’s why my emphasis always starts and ends with you.

What could we build, what could we create — in this space that we have,

As we take shelter in the love that some would say was never meant to last.

After all, how else would you fail to understand that though we can be a product of our past,

The sweet moments we’ve shared over the years are what we should revisit often, over a nice tall glass.

Would you like some? A glass of wine that is as I prance around the kitchen,

Doing my best to whip up all your favorite fixins?

Or would you rather we sit in comfortable silence and share a store bought meal,

Taking as many chances to share kisses, the ones you always steal.

I’d reckon you’ll always choose the latter because it gives you better access to me,

Never eat alone” grandma preached, when we got married — naturally we made it our most valued decree.

A seat at this table, yes it was meant for two,

Thank God the empty chair across the table only has a place for you.

Who sits or do you hope will have a seat at your table?

friendly reminder, new blog posts on With Love, Thelms every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for you babes’ viewing pleasure.
