Life Lesson

life lesson

Life lesson number #1.

My mom said always save your money, you never know when you could end up broke.

As a child I thought that was silly, how could money disappear on its own?

But it was simple, if you didn’t nurture it and save, it’d leave you high and dry,

It’s then that I realized the same could be said for our everyday lives.

If we didn’t nurture and care for the things that we loved,

could we be upset if they didn’t stick around?

It’s not often that after shit hits the fan, what has been lost will always be found.

That’s what they don’t teach you in school and you could never learn from a damn book,

Not to worry though, one life lesson was all it really took.

For me to realize that experiences are far better teachers than anything ever read,

It only takes a few monumental ones to prepare you for life as you know it, just up ahead.

Sometimes their subtle in the way they teach you and others times not so much,

But what you can always count on is the idea that one day that particular life lesson will come in clutch.

It’ll save your ass a time or two because you can’t possibly make the same mistake more than twice,

That’s the whole point of a life lesson, learning from the initial experience, so you don’t have to pay the ultimate price.

So on that note, I wish you good luck and offer you a proper farewell,

May every life lesson you encounter be one that teaches you far too well.
