MEET ME AT THE ALTAR

meet me at the altar

Meet me at the altar, won’t you please — I’ve been waiting for this moment for so long,

I’ve been trying to settle the nerves that appeared as soon as I heard our song.

Standing here in the wedding dress I envisioned years before we met,

It seems unreal that our happily ever after is here and I have not a single regret.

We’ve had our moments, don’t get me wrong our love was not without tests,

We fought, we bickered, we loved, our relationship then was as real as it gets.

We’re still as real as ever but I’d like to think we have grown in so many ways,

There’s something about weathering horrible storms that allows you to get to better days.

When you asked me to marry you a year ago, I prayed that we were ready for the road ahead,

I was led by faith when I decided to take your hand and say yes, it was a time I put my worries to bed.

You are my one true love and to say I fought for us is an understatement, I kept at us tooth and nail,

You worked just as hard, doing everything you could to make sure we did not fail.

Fast forward and here we are, I can see you just ahead, at the altar waiting down the isle for me,

I’ll be the chocolate beauty in the white dress,

The one you gave your heart to,

the only woman you’ll ever see.

Meet me at the altar.
