GREAT LENGTHS

great lengths

Won’t you take great lengths and see how far we go,
I promise in the end, it will be worth it to change the pace from slow.

Maybe then we might be able to experience, what life is like with each other,
Essentially cutting the noise and the bullshit, we were never one for the blubber.

I mean blubber like the fat parts of meat you pick and pick at to get through,
I’ve only ever been trying to pick, so I could reveal the inner makings of you.

Like what do you value and what has the ability to make you shed a tear,
or if a man like you has or ever had any fears.

However, after years of searching and never finding what I thought was surely there,
I’m beginning to wonder if hope is one hell of a hoax that doesn’t play fair.

After all, it’s been my hope that has continued to make the idea of us last,
But my reality continues to show me why there are no benefits in holding on to the past.

Not to worry because these days I’m finally taking great lengths of my own,
I’m moving on and there I’ve found the beauty in spending time alone.
