VISITED: POSTINO WINE CAFE

Postino

Happy Monday y’all! Cheers to the start of a new week. This morning I want to jump straight into my recent experience dining in at Postino Wine Cafe. I had the best time with my good girlfriend who came in town to celebrate my birthday with me. She couldn’t make it to the game night I hosted, but it was just as well. I was able to catch up with her yesterday one on one, laugh till my stomach was on fire, and explore Houston with her for a few hours. SO keep reading as I break down my experience at Postino, trading words with a woman who attempted (& then successfully snatched my girl’s parking spot), and everything else.

So before I touch on how I ended up at Postino, I believe it’s wise to start from the beginning.

Here goes nothing…

So my girl Marilyn and I should never have ended up at Postino. Not because the food was less than, not even because it wasn’t our scene.

We just should never have ended up there because we originally planned our brunch date for noon at Snooze. We had every intention of getting there, eating good, and taking our asses to the next location. However, the good Lord had other plans for us.

After picking me up from my apartment, we headed over to Snooze. Most Sundays it can get pretty packedthere  around this time and the parking lot is so tight that attempting to park within the eatery is almost always impossible. We happened to get lucky and just as were pulling up a group of people were getting ready to leave. They let us know that the spot they were vacating was ours. As you can imagine we were feeling pretty darn lucky.  Naturally we moved up in order to let the car leave, so that we could reverse park into the spot. Marilyn’s reverse lights were on in addition to her blinker.

SO, it’s safe to say that it came as a shock when Marilyn, irritation evident in her voice said “Wtf, she’s trying to take my spot.” I immediately whipped my head around as Marilyn got out the car and begin confronting the parking spot thief.

Now y’all, I know myself pretty darn well and me getting involved would have taken things to the next level LOL. Knowing that I decided to let my girl handle it, initially.

It wasn’t until she got back in the car and told me the woman was taking the spot, that I knew it was my time to get involved. I proceeded to role the window down and share a few choice words with her. Some of which included, but certainly weren’t limited to, “rude, disrespectful, $%&#, and so forth“. Hey! She was dishing it so I had to return the favor. At this point going back and forth with her wasn’t worth it, so we ended up leaving and deciding to park on the street and walk. As God’s mercy would have it, we ended up parking a few blocks away, directly in front of Postino.

The music was jumping, the atmosphere was welcoming, and we had already done the hard part. We were able to secure a parking spot mere steps from where we were eating. Naturally, it was a no brainer that everything happened for a reason and we ended up there instead.

THE AMBIANCE

The environment was so freaking welcoming! It gave me all the feels with the laid back vibes of the outside. The tables were close together, but not the point of annoyance or feeling cramped. It was more of a we’re all family here, let’s eat and be merry.

THE SERVICE

Pretty amazing. For a place that was pretty packed, we never went without water or being checked on. We were constantly being asked if we needed anything or if there was anything they could do on their end for us. One of the guys employed there, Axel being humorous in his attempt to make were genuinely good. On a busy Sunday afternoon, that;s the kind of service patrons can only dream of receiving.

THE FOOD

Marilyn I both ended up getting the,

Morning Plate: Two Eggs *your style, crispy bacon, walnut toast and roasted potatoes adding avocados on the side to finish things off.

The food was yummy. I of course could not leave a wine cafe without getting a glass of wine, choosing to sip on a glass of Rose throughout my meal.

Overall, I had a great time and can’t wait to go back! One can only hope it won’t take another person stealing a parking spot for me to end up here.

P.S. sharing the reason I cried for the first time at work on the blog Wednesday, so stay tuned for that babes.
