VISITED: FIG & OLIVE

Fig & Olive

Happy start of the week you guys! I woke up so ready to get my day started. I mean, yes I am a morning person, so most of my mornings usually begin like this. But today? Today felt especially good.  I’d like to think much of it stems from my wonderful experience at Fig & Olive: Houston this past weekend. After a draining, but rewarding week — my visit to the restaurant was just what the Doctor ordered. I ate yummy food, laughed till I was nearly at the point of tears, and indulged in a cocktail… or three. Maybe two? Needless to say, I enjoyed my time thoroughly. SO, it stands to reason that in today’s post I’m sharing all things Fig & Olive. From the scenic views, to the food, all the way down to the staff — I’m breaking down why this spot will be the reason all your brunch dreams come true.

THE SCENIC VIEWS

Backstory: I actually came across Fig & Olive back when I was scouting out restaurants to eat at when I visited Los Angeles last year. I’m not sure why, but I ended up going with another restaurant never to think about this one again. So you can imagine my surprise when I randomly came across it on Instagram and found out that they had opened one here in Houston. I just knew I had to go… asap. With Fig & Olive showcasing Mediterranean flavors in much of their recipes I knew I had to try it at least once. It also didn’t hurt that their drinks and food looked yummy af. All of which I discovered after stalking their socials for the better part of my Friday while at work.

I clearly couldn’t wait to get there to eat and be merry. I had a weekend to enjoy after all.

Upon arriving, I realized something almost immediately. If the Houston location was any indication, I’d made a mistake when I chose another restaurant over Fig & Olive for my girls trip to LA last year.

The vibes of the restaurant were to die for.

From the “Rosé All Day” moniker beaming from an electric pink sign to the beautiful outside seating arrangement, it was all a dream. It felt like someone had dropped me off in the middle of the most beautiful courtyard y’all. All I needed was a nice full glass of Rosé and a fan to ensure that the Houston heat didn’t swallow me whole.

As for the inside of the restaurant? Now that was on a whole other level of simplistic beauty.

Remember some posts back when I told you guys that good decor makes me squeal, but amazing decor makes me drool? Well, let’s just say I may have started drooling on my table setting because wow. Fig & Olive’s interior spoke to the Mediterranean vibes I can only assume you would find in the South of France, maybe? ***disclaimer: I have no idea what the South of France is like, but it sounded nice in context lol.

Anyway.

The inside was very spacious and the tones used for the decor were right up my interior alley. Simplistic in nature with just enough greenery to make summer feel constant no matter the season.

THE FOOD & THE DRINKS

Y’all there were so many yummy drink options that looking at the menu felt overwhelming. I ended up getting the Rosé Sangria which included: Rosé Wine, Pample mousse Liqueur, Cranberry Juice, Grapefruit & Raspberry Garnish. Naturally, a skinny margarita was ordered after I was done consuming the Rosé because weekend fun, obvi.

As for my meal, I went with the Lemon Chicken sandwich. It was sooo yummy. It included: Red Cabbage Slaw, Garlic Aioli, Watercress, Baguette. I added truffle fries because again wild weekend fun.

My friends got yummy meals of their own and when the check came we paid, bellies full and tastebuds satisfied.

THE STAFF

So sweet and just as eager to please.

It’s the best way I can use to describe the staff I encountered at Fig & Olive. They were so dang attentive and quick to clarify or be of assistance. S/o Nelson the waiter! There was not one staff member that I came across while there who didn’t either smile at me or acknowledge my presence.

I especially loved that one of the managers was present on the floor at all times. He walked around the restaurant several times in a way that spoke to his readiness to help.

Overall I truly enjoyed every second of my time at Fig & Olive. I know for a fact I’ll be back. If not for food because time constraints and all, most definitely for another yummy Rosé Sangria.

I can only hope today’s post makes choosing next weekend’s brunch spot that much easier.

To eating good and drinking even better at a Mediterranean courtyard near you,
