A CASE OF THE MONDAY BLUES

case of the monday blues

I’ve had a tough day,

and will have an even longer night.

Constantly thinking about all the ways,

today didn’t go right.

For starters…

My blouse stained with the bits of coffee,

that began the days’ trouble.

Instantly regretting why the hell,

I agreed to work a double.

This can’t be my  focus,” I said to myself,

because there’s so much to be done.

Quickly realizing today wouldn’t be like yesterday,

there wouldn’t be any room for fun.

I tried to let go and push myself,

to continue on ahead.

However as the day continued to drag on,

I knew I was turning into the bitch you hated coming to bed.

The one who never asked about your day,

and only ever complained about her own.

Then you’d say, “Quit” like it was just that simple,

when you and I both know we racked up a ton of student loans.

It’s just a part of who I am on Mondays,

and I do my best to give you as many cues

But I promise it’ll only happen once a week,

it’s what doctors are calling a case of the Monday blues.
