YOUR PERSONALITY TYPE EXPLAINED

Do y’all remember the quizzes they had on teen vogue or seventeen magazine back in the day? The ones that if taken were sure to pinpoint your personality type, who you were most compatible with + what celebrity you were most like? Gosh those were the days.

It felt like determining who you were and would become was so easy, just at the end of a “short” twenty question survey.

I sort of woke up missing those days.

So in tonight’s post I’m bringing back all the vibes as we dive into your personality type explained.

I’d like to think that though our personalities are complex we either fall in one category, another, or the gray space in between: Type A or Type B.

Disclaimer: I’m very aware that there are additional personality types, but I’d like to focus in on the two that are most common — so rock with me.

TYPE A

The first word I think of when considering this personality type: meticulous. If you fall into this category, you are very detail oriented. You know what you like and not a single person can or should try and change that. Nothing’s changing your mind, but you. Your patience generally is pretty low or nonexistent. With you enjoying things happening as soon as possible rather than later. Individuals that fall into this category in most cases are pretty short tempered as well. This certainly makes sense because if you’re patience generally is low — it’s very easy for this kind of individual to get riled up or triggered. Unless they learn through active tools, not to be. Naturally making many type A personalities sensitive, but proactive. This personality type also tends to thrive in high stress environments though it can be taxing on themselves.

TYPE B

Now the first word that comes to mind when thinking of this personality type: lax. Type B individuals are the epitome of lax, in that they take everything bit by bit + slow and very steady. They usually prefer to do things one at a time and are very patient individuals. Unlike Type A’s, they do not thrive in high stress environments. These personality types can be easily swayed because they are always open to something new and a different outlook or perspective on life. They are naturally this way, where as Type A personalities if they do possess this trait, had to learn it. If you guessed that Type B individuals are even tempered, you’re right on the money. Makes sense though right? Them being highly patient/easy going and all.

GRAY SPACE

It’s very possible to have a mix of both personality types depending on the environment you’re immersed in. You can be patient when the situation calls for it and impatient when you feel like there’s a time clock on your ass pressuring you to get things done. You may be pretty even tempered, but when something triggers you… well you’re triggered. It’s very possible to have an even split of both personality types within yourself, but it’s kinda rare. In most cases you’re usually more to the left or right of something than smack dab in the middle. Ya know?

In any case, diving deep into self is one of my favorite pastimes. I think, hell I know that there’s so much beauty in the discovery of self.

Though light in exploration, I hope tonight’s blog post brings you one step closer to conquering the discovery of self.

To Teen Vogue, Consmo, and Seventeen magazine — you are partially to thank for why a young Thelms fell in love with sharing stories, digging deep into my personality, and ultimately loving the discovery of self.
