5 WAYS TO TACKLE THE CHAOS YOUR EARLY 20’s CAN BRING

Chaos Your Early 20's Can Bring

When I was in my early teens, I dreamed of being in my 20’s. I legit daydreamed about all the things I would buy, all the boys I would kiss (listen, I was young and impressionable), and all the freedom I would have. What I didn’t take the time to truly think over was all the chaos your early 20’s can bring.  Let me just tell you, the chaos smacks you in the face like sour breath during a first kiss.

I’m talking,

Attempting to tackle school while trying to maintain a social life.

Trying to figure out what you want to do with said life.

Figuring out how to accept all you are and living in love towards yourself.

Coming to terms with being single af or happily dating.

Learning that independence isn’t as fun as we were once led to believe (bills, bills, and more bills).

You babes catching my drift yet? That’s chaos with a capital “c.”

Though I don’t claim to have it all figured out because trust me, I still face my fair share of chaotic moments — I have come up with a few ways that have helped me successfully tackle the chaos and quiet the noise, even if it is just for a little bit.

& because I’m always trying to put you babes (my gal pals) on game, I figured what better time to share them then now.

SO, keep reading for the 5 ways I tackle (and you can too) the chaos your early 20’s can bring.

RELINQUISH HELL BENT CONTROL

It’s really easy to get overwhelmed by all the changes that can happen in your early 20’s. So much is changing and yet, so much continues to stay the same. However, this is not the time to try and control every aspect of your life. Some things are just that, unable to be controlled. To be honest, the more you try to control something or a situation the less control you end up having — resulting in more disappoint, ya know? This is where the phrase “let the chips fall where they may” has to take priority. In the long run, everything will fall into place the way it should.

DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS

This is such a big thing in your early 20’s. Society at times leads us to believe that we have to have it all figured out during this period in our lives. We’re supposed to know who we’re going to marry, what we want to do, where we’re going to live, etc etc freaking etc. With that being said, it can be very easy to feel the pressure tenfold when the babe next to you seems to have her whole life figured out. You guys, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Your journey will never be exactly similar to the next person’s. So why compare yourself? After all, no two people are the same and that’s the beauty of this world tbh. Life can get pretty chaotic when you’re constantly comparing yourself to others instead of focusing on who you are. You have the right to not know who you want to marry or what you want to do with your life. You do not however, have the right to let the decisions of another person alter how you feel about yourself and what you choose to do to fill society’s absurd expectations.

PURGE THE BAD

Essentially, rid yourself of all the bad. Every negative thought, point of doubt, confusion — purge it all. In the midst of doing so, center yourself around what remains good. Hold it close and don’t let it slip away because it’s very easy to wallow in chaos, instead of trying to rise above it and ultimately out of it. The best thing we can all do for ourselves is try (at least a few times a week) to get rid of all the BS. Whether for you purging means writing, reading, dancing, etc — purge the best way you know how. Whatever that means, do it for your peace of mind and ultimate mental health.

UTILIZE PROs & CONs COMPARISONS

Do you ever get the feeling that there are so many decisions to make that could likely alter your life in major ways? With the chaos that our early 20’s can bring a good pros and cons sheet can make all the difference. You’d be surprised how therapeutic it can be to literally write out the benefits of something and the drawbacks of that very thing. It may be because you actually get out of your head for a bit and focus on the words or points laid out in front of you. If that doesn’t quiet the chaos for just a bit… Well, maybe a nice healthy glass of Rosé just might do the trick (don’t say I wasn’t ever helpful 😉

REMEMBER THERE IS ADVENTURE IN CHAOS

I’ve always been of the belief that a little bit of mayhem never hurt anybody. We’re yooooung for goodness sake. We have so much of our lives to live and so much to experience + so much chaos to embark upon — that right there, just may be the joy of being an early 20 something.

Besides the 5 Ways to Tackle the Chaos Your Early 20’s Can Bring, let’s have a heart to heart before I wrap up this post.

Forget society. We don’t have to have it all figured out and we don’t have to know exactly who we are. It’s the most beautiful thing about life. We are allowed to evolve. We are allowed to make mistakes. It’s life and it’s especially necessary in our early 20’s.

I truly hope today’s blog post has inspired you babes to remain in your truth and understand that from the chaos is sure to come a beautiful story of resilience, drive, and hopefully love.

To us badass early 20 somethings,
